From the people who take you to your seat to those who paint the sets, the actors on our stage to the stage managers running the show, volunteers make. HT’s Act2 Players is dedicated to producing short works in a reader’s theatre setting. Adults interested in acting and available for daytime rehearsals during the week are invited to audition on Saturday, March 5 at 10 am at the theatre, 229 S. Washington Street, Hendersonville. Auditions will consist of cold readings from various potential scripts to be produced as a public performance on April 1-3. No experience is necessary.

To reflect new direction and leadership, one of Hendersonville’s oldest continuously producing theaters is entering its 56th season with a new name – Hendersonville Theater (HT).
It seemed like a fun thing to do on a Saturday. I saw the notice about auditions being held at Hendersonville Community Theatre for a production called “Always a Bridesmaid”. I hadn’t heard of the show but honestly, after a year of lockdown, the thought of even attending an audition seemed like the most fun in, well… a very long time.
The mission of HCT is to inspire, nurture, enrich, empower, educate, entertain and challenge artists and audiences with theatrical productions that range from the classics to new works; we train and support the next generation of theatre artists; we provide arts education programs that promote life-long learning to a diverse community, and we celebrate the essential power of the theatre to illuminate our common humanity.
- To continue to increase the cultural life of the people of Henderson County and surrounding areas. To be a leader in the display, preservation and performance of local arts and contemporary craft. To contribute to the increased enrichment by presenting diverse voices that effectively reflect a broad array of cultural backgrounds and viewpoints. To actively encourage, promote and cultivate an appreciation of the Arts.
- To produce, publish and present various dramatic works of literary and artistic merit, both established and experimental, approved and untried for the entertainment, enjoyment, and the intellectual and emotional stimulation of all ages, skill levels, needs and backgrounds.
- To further provide the knowledge and development of skills in the dramatic and associated arts and crafts by working participation, academic and vocational training as well as instruction in all phases of theatre production; ranging from the reading and writing of plays, musical compositions to the challenges of business administration and management.
