This intimate concert showcasing 4 local, gifted songwriters taking turns telling the stories behind their songs and then performing them for the audience. This one-of-a-kind gathering will benefit Hendersonville Theatre’s projector fund to raise money to bring film to downtown Hendersonville. Featuring area songwriters: David Childers, Carson Sloan, Josh, and Steve Durose.
The Hendersonville Swing Band, under the direction of trombonist Jerry Zink, plays music of the Big Band era of the ‘30s, ‘40s and ‘50s. The band is primarily a rehearsal band made up of a group of 17 musicians who get together to play this music for their own enjoyment. Nearly all the members of the band are retirees. At present, the band has members from Henderson, Transylvania, Haywood and Buncombe counties. This is the band’s first and only Veterans Day Concert.
HT continues its Staged Reading Series Saturday, Sept. 10 at 4 p.m. Two short original one acts will be read this month. Featuring area actors: Joan Rinchisen, Gary McClain, Tate Albert, Maddison McMahan, Rowan Duncan. Darlene Cah and Donald Beck.
